The accident occurred before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday on Airport Road, between I-95 off ramp and Basin Road.
According to ABC 6, the DELDOT worker was in the process of making a U-turn before crashing into the bobtail semi truck.
The driver of the DELDOT truck was charged with inattentive driving according to Delaware State Police.
The Department of Natural Resources and a HAZMAT crew responded to a fuel spill that occurred because of the accident.
Minquas of Newport, Christiana and Belvedere fire companies also responded to the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was rushed to Christiana Hospital, but there is no word on his condition.
