On Oct. 17th, Kenworth revealed a new system to coach new drivers that will be implemented in T680 and T880 models with an automated transmission and Paccar MX-13 engine.
Drivers can expect immediate feedback from the Driver Performance Assistant on how they’re operating the truck, how they manage fuel economy and breaks, and keep performance scores for the driver which they can check with a push of a button.
The system will also remind drivers of their usage of air conditioning, engine idling and whatever else that can be used to save fuel.
Kenworth marketing director, Kurt Swilhart, believes the technology will act as a coach and help new drivers understand and regulate maximum performance.
He also states that the Driver Performance Assistant can be customized and programmed to meet the settings wanted by fleet or owner operators.
