A truck driver was shot by two masked men at a California truck over the weekend.

It happened on Saturday at the Sacramento 49er Travel Plaza, located north of I-80 on El Centro Road in North Natomas.

The Sacramento Bee reported that two men, armed with handguns, shot the driver in the torso when he was in his truck. The truck driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was hospitalized.

The suspects fled the scene.

According to Sgt. Tony Turnbull of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, the truck driver was accompanied by a second driver who was inside the truck stop at the time of the incident.

Police believe that the shooting was the result of a marijuana deal turned violent. The incident remains under investigation.
