Police are on the hunt for a fugitive who made a daring getaway after avoiding arrest in Toledo, Washington.
According to Fox-13, a “clearly intoxicated” man tried to enter a local resident’s house, who quickly called police to report the incident.
Police then found the man, who they identified as wanted fugitive Ruben Inman, hiding at a nearby truck stop.
Inman initially avoided arrest by hiding behind a cash register at ‘Gee Cee’s Truck Stop.’ When officers finally made their move — he was gone.
Puzzled officers then reviewed the truck stop’s surveillance footage and witnessed his great getaway act. They watched Inman run to the fuel island and hide underneath a semi truck’s trailer, as the driver fueled his vehicle.
Deputies tracked down the semi truck at its destination, 150 miles away in Arlington, but Inman was nowhere to be found. The only thing that remained was his hat, which was still in the trailer’s underbelly.
“We never in our wildest imagination would think that someone would hide in a tractor trailer like this going down the freeway for such a distance,” Lewis County Sheriff Rob Snaza told reporters.
Police believe that Inman may have left the semi truck when the driver encountered stop-and-go traffic in Pierce County.
Anyone with information on Ruben Inman’s whereabouts is being asked to call crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. There is a cash reward for information leading to his arrest.
