The Ohio State Patrol has closed off a stretch of Interstate 90 due to a multiple vehicle pileup that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
The first crash happened on the westbound lanes, at the 204 mile marker. The second accident happened on the eastbound lanes.
According to a Facebook post by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, multiple passenger vehicles and “at least 15 semi trailers” were involved. Early reports indicate that there may have been a possible explosion at the scene.
As a result, both the west and eastbound lanes of Interstate 90, from route 528 to route 44, are expected to be closed well into the evening.

Interstate 90 eastbound is being reopened to traffic. Interstate 90 westbound between 528 and 44 is still closed but will be reopened within the hour to one lane only

The eastbound lanes have reopened. The westbound I-90 is expected to open shortly, however travel will be restricted to one lane as the cleanup continues.
