Winter Storm Jonas blasted the northeast with several feet of snow on Saturday, leading to the closure of many major roads and highways. New York City took it a step further by declaring a state of emergency and threatening to arrest anyone caught driving in the five boroughs after 2:30 p.m.

The travel ban is effective on all local roads, highways, and bridges in the five New York City boroughs. Vehicular travel is also banned on local roads in Long Island.

Only federal, state, and local agencies are allowed on the roads.

According to the NYPD’s twitter account, there have been more than 312 accidents and 3 storm related deaths so far today.
