The body of a deceased truck driver was discovered in a Georgia truck stop on Wednesday afternoon, after police failed to locate his body during a search of the area on Tuesday evening.
According to the Newton Citizen, 57-year-old Lisle Eugene Harris of Terre Haute, Indiana, was reported missing around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, after his company noticed the rig’s GPS location hadn’t moved since 9 a.m.
Local police found the truck still running in a truck stop in Butts County, Georgia, on Tuesday evening, however the driver was not in the cab.
Investigators initially suspected that foul play may have been a factor, after failing to locate the driver in an initial search of the truck stop.
A second search was launched the following day.
On Wednesday afternoon, the driver’s body was discovered in an area of the truck stop which had not been thoroughly search the day before.
Butts County Sheriff’s Major Darrell Powers said it appears the death was of of natural causes. An investigation is underway.
