A Canadian truck driver was fired after confronting a protester who attempted to block him from entering a job site earlier this week.

According to Global News, some locals were outraged after Canada’s Enviromental agency issued a permit to allow a Vancouver Island rock quarry to be turned into a dump site for toxic soil.

Since early November, protesters showed up Shawnigan Lake every morning and evening to voice their complaints. Many protesters also blocked truck drivers from entering and leaving the quarry, causing significant delays.

After weeks of protest, one frustrated driver snapped and left his truck to confront a protester who was blocking his rig.

The physical altercation, which occurred on Saturday morning, was filmed by onlookers.

One witness told reporters, “I just couldn’t believe it. I don’t expect people to resort to violence, even if they are screaming and yelling and swearing. To grab a woman is even worse.”

The woman was who involved in the confrontation said she was traumatized by the event.

The driver was fired shortly after the incident. The driver has not yet been charged, however an investigation is currently underway by Canadian police.
