A truck driver was stranded in near-freezing water after crashing into a pond off Interstate 96 in Novi, Michigan.
According to CBS News, the driver lost control of his rig early Wednesday morning while traveling on westbound I-96. The truck then went off the freeway, and ended up in a retention pond on the side of the road.
The near-freezing temperatures prevented the driver from swimming back to land, so he stood on top of the overturned truck’s fuel tanks until rescue crews arrived.

Emergency workers used an inflatable raft to reach the driver and safely bring him to land. He was not injured in the incident.
Traffic was backed up for one mile on the westbound I-96 between Novi and Beck roads due to the closure of two right lanes.
