A semi truck carrying 30,000 pounds of human blood overturned on an Oregon highway and ended up in a ditch on Wednesday morning.
According to Oregon Live, the Freightliner semi truck was hauling nearly100 cases of frozen blood in a refrigerated trailer and tipped over around 1 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Highway 58.
The driver of the truck, 43-year-old Kent Osgood of Tarrant, Texas, as well as a passenger, were both trapped inside the rig and rescued by first responders. They were taken to Sacred Heart Riverbend Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
After being taken to the hospital for his wounds, Osgood was cited for failing to maintain a lane, according to the Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Bill Fugate.
