A bus driver was cited for a collision that left dozens of people injured. It happened around 8:40 a.m. on Monday in Weehawken, New Jersey.
Two NJ Transit buses were headed to the Port Authority Bus terminal when they collided in the Lincoln Tunnel.
CBS New York reported that a bus that was traveling to Ridgefield rear-ended a bus out of Fairview. The first bus reportedly changed lanes in front of the second bus, but did not leave that driver with enough space to brake in time.
As a result, the second bus rear-ended the first at speeds of 35 or 40 mph.
A passenger described the horrific scene,
“It was terrifying. It was literately a nightmare that I have. We were in the second row so watching your bus crash into another bus, there was blood everywhere.”
Police reported that a door on one of the buses had to be cut open to free the passengers inside. 44 people were injured in the wreck– 41 of those injuries were minor and three were serious.
The serious injuries reported were a broken arm and jaw.
