An Arizona woman faces criminal charges for her role in a fatal crash that killed a truck driver last week.

The incident happened on State Route 85 near Gila Bend, Arizona, on December 28th.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, 20-year-old Alexis Marie Elias rear-ended a pickup after a night of drinking, then stopped her vehicle in the middle of the highway. An approaching semi truck tried to avoid her vehicle but clipped it from behind, causing the rig to overturn.

The driver of the pickup was not hurt. The semi truck driver died in the crash.

ABC-15 shared this aerial footage of the scene.

Elias initially denied drinking and told police that she consumed alcohol “two nights before” the crash, however a breathalyzer pegged her blood-alcohol content at .109 at the scene of the accident.

She was arrested and charged with manslaughter and endangerment.
