A semi truck hauling flammable and corrosive chemicals caught fire this weekend.

It happened in Raritan Township, New Jersey on Route 202 at approximately 5 p.m. on June 24th.

According to NJ, the tractor trailer was hauling drums of hazardous material south on Route 202 between Flemington Circle and Hart Boulevard when the load caught fire, causing the semi truck to stop in the Spring Garden and Rich Haven Road intersection.

Firefighters, hazardous material response teams, the state Department of Environmental Protection, and a Foam Taskforce all responded to the wreck, putting out the fire and containing the chemicals.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No injuries have been reported, but the southbound side of Route 202 was closed until after 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
