A trucker’s dash cam captured footage of a motorist being run off the road while trying to pass a tanker truck in North Dakota on Monday.
The incident was filmed on January 29th in Fargo, North Dakota by truck driver Steve Ost, who posted it to Facebook.
In the clip, a tanker truck can be seen driving in the right lane with a motorist passing on the left. However, when a second motorist tries to pass the same way, the tanker truck begins to move over into the left lane, forcing the white sedan off the highway and onto the snowy median, where the motorist maintains control as the tanker truck continues down the road.
Eventually, the tanker truck drives away and the white sedan reenters the highway, apparently unhurt.
Since it’s posting, the video has been shared nearly 3,500 times, and has left viewers with varying opinions regarding the cause of the near-collision.
“Looks like he [the truck driver] most likely looked in mirror while car was in blind spot… honest mistake, happens hundreds of times a day nationwide,” wrote one.
“No that’s not what it looks like. He deliberately ran that car off the road and he should be in jail,” wrote another in response.
“My thought process was that the semi truck driver was paying attention to the vehicle that passed him first and didn’t look fast enough to realize another one was passing him,” added a third.
