More than 100 trucks came together to honor Don Anderson, founder of Ontario-based Don Anderson Haulage Limited, on Saturday.

The convoy took place on Highway 404 in Ontario, Canada on Saturday, July 8th.

Anderson had lost his battle to cancer a week earlier on July 1st.

Anderson began his trucking career with 1 big rig shortly after graduating high school. Now, after 55 years in the business, Don Anderson Haulage commands 100 semi trucks.

According to CTV News, the convoy was organized by the Ontario Trucking Association, an organization in which Anderson was an active member.

“Give him his last ride. It’s the way a trucker should go out,” said Rod Gibson, a long-time friend of Anderson, as well as a fellow trucker.

The procession of 100 semi trucks overtook Highway 404 and ended in Stouffville, Ontario, considered the center of Anderson’s “empire.”

“Don was such a leader in the trucking industry and just an all-around good guy, we thought it would be a real tribute to Don to do this for him,” said Ross Todd, family member to Anderson.

“I think he’d be very honored. I’m sure he’s looking down and he’s going to be smiling,” said Anderson’s grandson Kyle Todd.
