A truck driver survived an encounter with a tornado recently, capturing his entire treacherous drive on dash cam.

The incident happened near South Taranaki, New Zealand as truck driver Rick Field was on his way to deliver fertilizer.

In the clip, the heavy rain and wind can be seen through the windshield, the intensity of the wind and rain increasing as Field makes his way along a rural road.

“This isn’t good,” Field says as visibility decreases, and the wind threatens to flip his rig.

“I swear there’s a f***ing tornado…. I’m in the f***ing tornado!”

Trees and other debris then begin to fall around the truck, further alarming Field as he tries to get to safety.

“Where’s the road? There’s trees coming down, holy sh*t… This is f***ing freaky I don’t even know where to hide,” Field continued.

Eventually, Field makes it through the brunt of the storm and to his delivery location, truck and driver both still in tact.

“Once the trees started snapping I thought, ‘Woah, this is it’. I thought one was going to come straight down on to the top of the cab… I was just thinking, ‘Where can I hide?’ But there was nowhere to hide. I couldn’t see where I was going, but you don’t know if you are going in or out, so I just kept driving.” Field said.

“Later I tried to go back home along the same road but it had been closed. Half of the trees had been ripped out of the ground and power lines were covering the road. It freaked me out seeing that. I must have been pretty close. Not a lot scares me… but that was pretty freaky.”
