An unsuspecting truck driver was shot in the chest by two armed robbers inside of a Flying J truck stop early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred on September 22nd at around 3:00 a.m. in Franklin County, Georgia.

According to WSBTV News, the two men walked into the Flying J store off of Interstate 85 at exit 160 and began threatening the employees and patrons with their guns. One of the men then fired two rounds, striking a trucker inside the store and wounding him in the upper chest.

The two thieves then demanded money from the registers and fled the scene. An SUV described as either tan or gray was then seen exiting the parking lot across the street and getting on I-85 and is believed to be the getaway vehicle of the two suspects.

The unnamed trucker from Florida was transported to a hospital in Athens where he is currently listed in stable condition despite his serious, life-threatening injuries.

Police are still searching for the men, still believed to be armed and possibly dangerous.
