A truck driver has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly shooting at his wife for cheating on him with a coworker.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 21st at a Flying J Truck Stop in St. Augustine, Florida.
According to News 4 JAX, on Monday, police responded to a woman’s 911 call claiming that her husband was shooting at her. Her husband, 57-year-old Elvin Medina, saw his wife in the cab of a coworker’s truck at the Flying J truck stop and became enraged, claiming she was cheating on him.
Medina, who was inside his own parked rig, then shot at his wife and coworker while still sitting in the cab of his truck. The shots shattered his truck’s window, as well as the window of the truck parked next to him.
Police then arrived at the truck stop, and approached Medina’s truck, holding him at gunpoint.
“Today is my 13th anniversary with my wife,” Medina explained, apologizing to the police for the disturbance.
“I saw her cheating on me with another man from work,” Medina continued.
Medina was then helped out of the cab by officers after claiming to be disabled and was taken into custody. Officers recovered a jammed handgun from Medina’s truck.
No one was injured in the incident. Medina and his wife were team-drivers.
Elvin Medina is being charged with aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill, as well as shooting into an occupied conveyance. He is currently being held on $15,000 bond.
