A truck driver helped a family keep warm in the comfort of his cab during Tuesday’s Interstate 65 shut down.
It happened during the shut down on southbound Interstate 65, near Bonnieville, Kentucky, on Tuesday morning.
The truck driver, Paul Marcum, says he left his truck to clean his windows while traffic was stopped when he saw the motorist standing outside her vehicle in the freezing cold.
The motorist, Melissa Root, explained that the heat in her car went out, with her infant grandchildren and daughter-in-law in the vehicle.
Marcum instantly sprung to the rescue, inviting the family into the cab of his truck, offering them a warm place to stay as well as water and snacks.
“It means a lot,” Root said. “He’s a godsend. My babies are warm. As long as they are warm, I’m fine until I get to the next rest stop and get here or something for them.”
“I can’t imagine being out here without no heat,” Marcum told reporters who interviewed him about his kind deed.
“If the world was like that, we would be in a better place,” he added.
