A truck driver reportedly told police that he “forgot he had a trailer” after cutting a turn short and colliding with another tractor trailer.

Footage of the incident was captured by driver Aron Borzyskowski in Glenwood, Georgia, on Friday January 20th.

In the dash cam clip, Borzyskowski comes to a stop at an intersection with a four-way stop, when he sees the approaching semi. After briefly stopping, the approaching truck continues on and tries to make a left turn, but cuts the turn too tight, causing his trailer to strike Borzyskowski’s truck.

“Initially I thought he was going to back up and give me room to turn but then just took off. He said that he picked up the trailer 30 minutes ago and forgot he had a trailer,” Borzyskowski told LiveTrucking.

Borzyskowski says the driver told police that he forgot he was pulling a trailer and was apologetic after the incident.

“He admitted instantly that it was his fault. Told cops, troopers, and DOT that he forgot he had a trailer. He was nice and I was nice also, even though I was really mad. I know stupid things happen and I’m sure he felt bad. Nobody was hurt, which is all that really matters. So I kept my composure and maintained my professionalism throughout this ordeal,” Borzyskowski added.

Borzyskowski says the dash cam footage allowed him to prove his innocence, and that his 2 million-mile accident-free safety bonus won’t be affected by the incident.
