A truck driver claims that he didn’t know about the 2,066 pounds of marijuana discovered inside his tractor trailer during a police stop in Arkansas on Thursday.

The illegal cargo was discovered on Thursday, March 22nd outside of Russellville, Arkansas.

According to the Courier News, the incident began on eastbound Interstate 40 when state troopers noticed a tractor trailer drifting out of its lane near mile marker 76. The troopers then pulled the big rig over and noticed that the driver, 59-year-old Robert Moore, was “exceedingly nervous,” prompting the officers to conduct a search of the vehicle. Upon inspection of the tractor trailer, troopers discovered 2,066 pounds of marijuana inside the trailer, and placed Moore under arrest.

A hearing was held the following day, Friday, March 23rd, for the $3.3 million worth of marijuana found inside Moore’s truck.

“Is that a record?” asked District Judge Don Bourne when presented with the case.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen over 2,000 pounds,” he added.

During the hearing, Moore claimed that he did not know about the drugs inside his trailer and pointed out that he had been working for the same trucking company for almost 10 years.

“I try to lead a fair life,” Moore said.

“I even asked to take a lie detector test, so they would know I am innocent.”

Regardless of Moore’s requests, Judge Bourne set Moore’s bond at $200,000. He is scheduled to appear in Pope County Circuit Court “at a later date,” which has not been specified.
