At 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, 62 year old Edwin Goettee was washing his hands at the Lackawanna rest area, in Clarks Summit, at exit 202, when he was approached by three men at gunpoint. “One of the men pulled out a gun and told the person to empty his pockets. Police said the robbers then directed the victim to go into a stall or else he would be shot. The robbers then took off,” WNEP reported.
Edwin was too nervous to properly identify the hooligans but the suspects believe to be in their 20’s or 30’s, are six feet tall with a “stocky” build and apparently left the area in a dark car with a “loud exhaust”.
Fortunately, the robbers didn’t get anything off of Edwin since he leaves all of his valuables in his truck. He began the practice of leaving his belongings in his truck after his brother-in-law, who’s also a trucker, got robbed in similar fashion.
A similar incident occurred earlier this month on Sunday, September 7, at the eastbound I-80 rest area near Mount Pocono.
