A truck driver is in stable condition after an accident that severely mangled the cab of his truck on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened at mile marker 218 on Interstate 74 in Illinois, on Tuesday, February 20th.

According to Carnaghi Towing & Repair, who was part of the recovery team, the driver was trapped inside the cab of the truck for approximately one hour, but was extricated and taken to a nearby hospital where he is now in stable condition.

Based on available information, it appears that the truck veered off the roadway and struck an overpass support pillar. The load of logs that were being hauled penetrated the cab of the semi, trapping the driver inside.
