A tractor trailer drove into a marijuana dispensary in Michigan yesterday after its driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel

It happened on Monday, July 17th at approximately 9:30 p.m. in east Detriot, Michigan.

According to CBS Detroit, the semi truck was traveling east on 8 Mile Road when it veered off the road and crashed into the King Seaweed dispensary.

The semi truck penetrated the front of the brick building, trapping the truck driver inside the cab and knocking over a utility pole, sending a live wire to the ground.

Several witnesses, including an off-duty police officer, attempted to extricate the driver while waiting for first responders, but the driver was later rescued by an emergency crew. Rescue crews say the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

The dispensary was closed with no one inside and the truck driver was treated only for minor injuries.

8 Mile Road was reduced to one lane while crews cleaned up the mess and righted the utility pole.
