It seems that trucking social media pages have become the new CB radio for drivers to air out their thoughts. Sometimes helpful and friendly, and other times they can be a no holds barred free-for-all, with strong opinions colliding.
But when two drivers met on a popular Facebook community, Twisted Truckers, it was something a lot more rare. You could say it was love at first “like.”
Whe a rookie trucker in Canada, Brittannie, sent her photo to the Facebook community to introduce herself, she caught the eye of many. But one driver felt the need to take it a step further.
Ronnie, a 9 year driver in Texas, was captivated by her and decided to send her a friend request. She accepted, and the two hit it off immediately. After several weeks of chatting, Brittanie drove down to meet the driver from Texas and says the meeting had a lasting effect on her.
“We met at a Pilot because it was easier and when I pulled up beside his truck and he looked out his window at me it was like I was struck by lightning, love at first sight.”
Six months after posting and liking the photo on the Twisted Truckers Facbeook page, the two were trucking newlyweds.
Still living in separate countries, Brittannie plans to move to the U.S. and get her green card and would like to run teams with her husband, sharing her life on the road with her new life partner.
Best of luck to these two as they embark on a trip that’ll last a lot longer than any they’ve encountered in their careers thus far.
