Watermelons spilled from an overturned semi truck were responsible for the death of a motorist over the weekend after the large fruit plummeted onto the roadway below, causing a fatal crash.
The accident occurred on Saturday, April 28th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Police say that the semi truck hauling watermelons flipped on an overpass while exiting Interstate 95 north, spilling its load of large fruit onto the southbound lanes of I-95 below. The falling fruit then smashed the roof of a passing car, causing the motorist to lose control, killing their 61-year-old passenger, Thanh Tam Nguyen.
The unnamed driver of the semi truck sustained only minor injuries in the crash and no other injuries have been reported according to Pittsburgh CBS Local.
Police are still working to determine the exact reason why the semi truck flipped.
