Police say a truck driver was responsible for an 8 car pile up on Interstate 10 in Texas on Thursday.
The multi-vehicle wreck happened on November 9th on I-10 in El Paso, Texas
According to police, an International flatbed tractor trailer driven by Gary McDaniel was traveling east on I-10 near Yarbrough Drive and Lomaland Drive when it “failed to slow for backed up traffic”.
The rig then plowed into the backed up traffic, leading to a pileup that involved at least 7 other vehicles, including another tractor trailer, a utility truck, and multiple cars.
Three motorists were injured and taken to a nearby hospital, with one of the motorists suffering “serious injuries,” according to local Fox-14.
All eastbound lanes of I-10 were shut down for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage. The lanes were reopened by 1:30 p.m.
McDaniel was not injured in the accident, but police say his ‘failure to control speed’ was the reason for the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
