Police are searching for a driver who cut off a semi truck, causing it to lose control and drive off an overpass on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred on Interstate 24 West in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The tractor trailer swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle that cut it off but lost control and broke through the I-24 guardrails, ultimately landing on Brown’s Ferry Road below.
The truck driver was injured, but is expected to survive. The motorist that cut him off did not stop.
According to WRCB-TV, a witness who was driving on Brown’s Ferry Road saw the truck come crashing down. He immediately stopped to help the driver.
“I look up ahead of me and I see a truck, an 18-wheeler, come from no where. It just dropped out of the sky off the bridge” he said. “Had we been about 30-40 seconds faster going down the road, we would have been under the truck instead of trying to help the guy get out of it.”
The truck driver’s identity has not been released. Chattanooga police asks anyone with information to call (423) 698-2525.
