The Lufkin Police Department is on the hunt for the motorist responsible for a hit-and-run accident involving a trucker at approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning.
It happened at the Pilot truck stop at 1920 East Denman Avenue in Lufkin, Texas on Monday, June 19.
According to the Lufkin Police, a dark-colored car, possibly a Cadillac or similar, was driving too fast through the Pilot parking lot when it struck a trucker.
The truck driver, 49-year-old Michael Lynn Culbertson, was on his way back from the Pilot store when the car ran him over.
Witnesses say the dark vehicle drove away quickly and without hesitation.
Culbertson was taken to a nearby hospital with a head injury. He is still being evaluated.
“Unless the driver is moved by their conscience to come forward, information from the public will be key in solving this crime,” said Lufkin Police spokeswoman Jessica Pebsworth.
The driver in question is believed to live in the Fuller Springs area.
Individuals with any information are being asked to call the Department’s non-emergency number at 936-633-0356 or Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS for anonymous tips.
