An interstate in Washington was left littered with boxes after a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel, sending the big rig plunging off an overpass.
The accident happened on the evening of Thursday, May 31st in Lakewood, Washington.
According to the Washing State Patrol, the truck was traveling on Interstate 5 when the truck driver fell asleep, sending the tractor trailer veering off the road and down a steep embankment before crashing onto the 96th Street below, breaking open the trailer and scattering boxes all across the highway.
We had a semi leave I-5 over 96th st and fall onto 96th below. The driver was injured but should be ok and nobody else injured. 96th will be blocked for a while so it might be a good idea to avoid the area. pic.twitter.com/RxZlb6OzVa
