A man who stripped naked, physically threatened drivers, and jumped onto the roof of several moving trucks back in December will not be serving any jail time.
The bizarre incident occurred on December 12th, 2017 on Route 28 in Fairfax County, Virginia but the naked man, Jose Gonzales Flores, was tried on Tuesday, March 27th.
On that day in December, Flores was involved in a three car crash on Route 28 near Frying Pan Road. Witnesses say that, immediately following the crash, Flores became “agitated” and began to remove his clothes.
“He had something that had blades. He kept cutting himself,” said witness Mahnaz Safi.
Flores then rushed towards the road and hopped onto the passenger side of a semi truck, shattering the window with his hand before climbing on top of the moving vehicle.
“He looked at me, and she [my dog] started barking,” said Adam Allen.
“He hopped up on the passenger side, tried to open the door. When he couldn’t get in, he punched a window and shattered it with his fist… He shouted “Hi-ya!” as if he were doing karate as he broke the window,” Allen said, the shattered glass injuring Allen’s dog and cutting her eye.
Flores then hopped off the truck and began stopping cars and laying down in the middle of the roadway.
“The guy was actually stopping the cars. He was laying down. He started swinging, laying down naked and all that stuff, so people stopped. They don’t want to run him down,” said Tariq Hussein, another witness to the incident.
“Whoever stopped, he goes to them and tried to smash their window. Then, he jumped onto this guy’s pickup truck flatbed and he just tried [to stab it] with a knife,” Hussein continued.
Flores then shattered the window of the flatbed tow truck, riding on its roof before jumping off the vehicle and running into the woods.
“He took a tire, a used tire, around his neck and ran into the woods,” Hussein said.
Flores was later found in a drainage ditch on land owned by the Dulles Airport, where he was arrested and taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. No one else was hurt in the ordeal.
According to NBC Washington, Flores pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor hit-and-run, misdemeanor assault, and indecent exposure charges on March 27th. He will not be jailed, but will instead remain on probation for two years, or until restitution is paid in full.
