Three semi trucks collided on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 in Port Huron Township, Michigan, resulting in one fatality.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon around 2:40 p.m.

According to The Times Herald, the crash was caused when a semi truck rear ended another semi that was stopped due to severe backups at the Water Street exit.  A third semi truck was hit after the initial collision.

The driver who rear ended the stopped truck was killed in the crash.

Eastbound I-94 is currently closed at exit 271.  Eastbound Interstate 69 is also closed at exit 199.  Traffic is currently being diverted off I-94, onto Water Street and Lapeer Road.

An investigation is underway.
