A motorist was arrested for smoking synthetic marijuana and impersonating a police officer after flagging down a trucker that he claims was involved in human trafficking.
The incident occurred on Monday, April 23rd in Lampasas, Texas.
According to WMC Action News, a trucker was driving along the 600 block of S. Key Avenue when a motorist pulled up beside him, honking and waving. The trucker believed that the man was trying to alert him that something was wrong with his truck, so he pulled over. The motorist then approached the driver and claimed he was a police officer, demanding the trucker open his trailer. The trucker then asked to see some identification from the supposed police officer, but was not provided with any, so he flagged down a passing trooper and explained what was happening.
The motorist, 20-year-old Carlos Mandujano, then explained to police that he had stopped the truck driver because he believed that the semi truck was involved in human trafficking after running the license plate number through a general search on his smartphone. He then admitted to having smoked synthetic marijuana and handed the remaining drugs to the police.
Upon investigation, officers discovered no evidence of the unidentified trucker’s involvement in human trafficking.
Mandujano was taken into custody for impersonating a public servant and possession of marijuana.
