A portion of Michigan Highway 120 is expected to remain closed all day Monday after a fiery crash claimed the life of a truck driver.

The fatal crash occurred on Monday at around 8:30 a.m. in Twin Lake, Michigan.

According to MLive News, a semi truck hauling double trailers full of construction aggregate was traveling near the 5700 block of Holton Road, otherwise known as M-120, when it collided with a passenger vehicle. The force of the impact sparked a fire inside the cab of the truck, destroying it, and seriously damaged the front end of the car.

The truck driver, who has not been identified, was killed in the crash. The severity of the motorist’s injuries is not known.

Officials are still investigating the exact reason for the crash but say that clean up of the wreck is expected to last all day and possibly into the evening.

As of 11:00 a.m., M-120 remains closed in both directions between Michillinda and Ryerson Roads.
