150 miles of Interstate 80 in Wyoming, between Cheyenne and Rawlins, has been closed after a massive snow storm led to several large pileups.

The pileups occurred yesterday, April 16th, near mile marker 342 and involved nearly 60 commercial vehicles on both the eastbound and westbound lanes.

The snowfall is expected to continue throughout Friday.

According to WyomingNews.com, Laramie County Fire District 10 Chief Paul Pomeroy described the scene by saying: “if you can picture semis on top of semis, cabs gone, and the extrication that they had to do, it is just – there’s nothing left of a lot of vehicles.”

No deaths have been reported, but nearly 30 people have been injured. There is currently no word on when the interstate will reopen.
