A man was arrested earlier this week after he threatened to shoot at any truckers using a Jake brake (engine brake) near his home.
He was arrested on Monday, August 7th, in Whitfield County, Georgia.
According to News Channel 9, a police report was filed by truck driver David Crisp back in July, stating that Joe Withrow had aimed a gun at the windshield of his truck as he drove by.
“When he pointed over, I sort of ducked down into the floorboard,” Crisp said.
Crisp also said that not using a Jake brake at the intersection near Withrow’s house could be dangerous.
Withrow had been confronted by police on similar grounds earlier in the year for trying to put up “No Jake Braking” signs near his home.
When Withrow was told he could not put up the signs, he told the officers that he would “use the old well in his yard to build a bunker and take out the trucks.”
After the police report filed by Crisp, the officers took out an arrest warrant on Withrow, but could not find him.
He was found and taken into custody on Monday, August 7th. He has been denied bond.
“I feel better about it in a way, but I think just arresting somebody ain’t going to fix the problem,” said Crisp about the arrest.
“They need to figure out a solution to the ordeal and figure out what’s making him that way.”
