A patient that was strapped to a gurney in an ambulance somehow freed himself and commandeered the vehicle, before crashing it on a Wisconsin highway.
23-year-old Michael Bruckner took control of the wheel as he was being transferred between hospitals in Chicago and managed to drive over 100 miles to to Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.
The dramatic dash cam footage shows the speeding ambulance nearly colliding with a semi truck, before swerving to the left in order to avoid the rig. The sudden jerk causes the ambulance to overturn and sends sparks flying everywhere.
When a judge asked Illinois Highway Patrol officers how he managed to break free from the gurney and take control of the vehicle, they responded with “He’s Houdini”, according to Patch.com.
Bruckner had no prior criminal history, but was arrested after pulling this stunt and is being held on $25,000 bail.
