A truck driver in New Hampshire was injured on Monday after ice flew off the top of a box truck in front of him and shattered his windshield.
The driver, Jim Lloyd, suffered cuts on his face and hands and was sent to a nearby hospital. The incident took place on Route 101 west in Raymond, New Hampshire.
The general manager of the company Lloyd drivers for, ReEnergy Holdings LLC, told the New Hampshire Union Leader “He could have been knocked out or killed somebody.”
A weekend snowstorm left ice on many vehicles, and there were several other incidents of vehicles being struck by flying ice. This was the only incident with physical injury, however.
The law require motorists to clean ice from the top of their vehicles, and violators can be fined up to $1000 per incident.
