
A truck driver has been cited after drifting out of his lane on a highway in Maryland, causing a fiery, two truck crash.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, March 27th at approximately 5:00 p.m. in Williamsport, Maryland.
According to Herald Mail Media, truck driver John W. Greene was driving his J.B. Hunt tractor trailer in the fast lane of northbound Interstate 81 near a construction zone lined with concrete barriers when he drifted into the adjacent lane, striking a U.S. Xpress semi truck driven by Lloyd Lazarus. The force of the impact caused both trucks to catch fire, destroying the cab of Greene’s truck and seriously damaging Lazarus’.
Luckily, both truck drivers were able to escape without any injuries, and no one else was hurt in the crash.
At the time of the crash, one truck was hauling refrigerant and one, merchandise for Home Depot.
The northbound lanes of I-81 were shut down for around three hours as crews worked to extinguish the fires and clear the wreckage. They have since been reopened.
Maryland State Police say that Greene has been issued a citation for negligent driving.
