One woman was killed and several others injured after being struck by a Coca Cola truck that lost control when it was cut off by an SUV.
The incident occurred on East 138th street and Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx, New York, on Monday.
According to reports, a gray SUV cut off the delivery truck at the intersection, leading to a collision between the two. The impact caused the truck to lose control and jump the curb, striking several people who were waiting for the bus.
37-year-old Sheniqua Silva was on the phone with her husband when she was struck. She was killed instantly. A factory worker who witnessed the crash said “She was dead in an instant. It was really bad. She lost half of her head.”
Two other pedestrians were also hit and were taken to Lincoln Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the delivery truck and the driver of the SUV were both treated for minor injuries.
As of Tuesday, no charges have been filed. Police have indicated that the driver of the delivery truck was not at fault, however an investigation is still underway.
